Become the Best Version of Yourself

We want OpenSesame to reflect the diversity of the communities we serve and the world we live in.

We know that a variety of perspectives and voices strengthen our ability to deliver the spark of learning to everyone.

We hold ourselves accountable to create more diverse, equitable, and inclusive communities through continuous learning, personal growth, and working to support our customers.

We welcome you to bring your authentic self to our team and grow beyond your expectations.

Our employees and leadership have made actionable commitments to the work ahead — for our world, our people, and our customers.

We believe in transparency. Our current work to elevate Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion includes:

Improving our DEI customer service and products by:

Promoting them to a top-level category in our course catalog; strengthening our courses by partnering with the top publishers; adding expertise on our team; and building out new tools and support resources to guide our customers.

Continuing to invest in our people:

Identifying and Eliminating Workplace Biases by working with a DEI professional focused on providing education across all teams and auditing our programs and processes.

Prioritizing Equitable Internal Progression by focusing on internal development and progression programs and ensuring underrepresented employees can access them. We offer unparalleled access to eLearning and Professional Development to all employees.

Supporting our ERGs (Employee Resource Groups) to cultivate an inclusive environment and meet the unique needs and issues of the diverse workforce at OpenSesame. Our current ERGs include:

  • Asian Pacific Islanders ERG

  • Black Folx ERG

  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Learning Community ERG

  • Juntos ERG

  • Neurodiversity ERG

  • Women of OpenSesame ERG

  • Queers of OpenSesame ERG

Increasing Hiring of Candidates from Underrepresented Groups by implementing the Rooney Rule to ensure representation in our candidate pools; hiring more employees representing different regions, markets, and perspectives; expanding our referral bonus to increase references beyond our current networks; and incorporating the value of cultural wealth in our interview training and processes.

Supporting our community:

OpenSesame has taken the TechTown PDX Diversity Pledge as a founding member along with 27 Portland, Oregon, tech companies. This is a unified movement toward achieving greater diversity and creating a more inclusive tech community in Portland.

Increasing our Investment in Youth:

  • OpenSesame has been a part of De La Salle North Catholic High School’s Corporate Work Study Program for three years. This program provides internships for high school students who are academically vulnerable. Ninety percent of DLSNC’s students are from communities of color; all are from families earning 75 percent below the average median annual income.

  • Our Step-Into-Tech high school training and mentoring program provides early and significant exposure to the world of tech careers for students of color and other underrepresented communities.

This is just the beginning.
We are learning. We are listening.

We welcome you to bring your authentic self to
our team and grow beyond your expectations.
